Our lives are banal and ordinary. Not much happens over the course of any given day. Our problems, big and small, lie in wait for us to give them attention, something we actively avoid doing.

So we play with our phones, post cleverly crafted images to social media, look up random facts and places, or read mildly amusing listicles. At some point, though, we’re going to have to come out of hiding and face reality.

“One Bedroom, One Bath” tells the story of two people avoiding their problems. It’s a reminder that we all drift, like dust motes caught in a draft, from one moment to the next and often without purpose. Sometimes, we are simply looking to fill time between this and that, momentary distractions to get us from the start of day to its end.

However, there is poetry to be found in the meaningless moments of our lives. The banal is also beautiful, like the toppings on a hotdog or cloud formations in the sky.

“One Bedroom, One Bath” celebrates life’s unique ordinariness. It’s a reminder that eventually we’ll get around to facing those nagging problems that won’t leave us alone.
